The deputy county attorney from Bullitt County, Stephanie Kelley, has pleaded not guilty to a DUI charge. She was arrested for drunk driving last week.

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – The attorney for Stephanie Kelley – the deputy county attorney from Bullitt County who was arrested for driving drunk last week – entered a not guilty plea in court on her behalf Tuesday.

LMPD officers arrested Kelley on Jan. 13 after they say she struck an officer’s cruiser, then took off. According to court documents, Kelly, 36, stopped her car on railroad tracks at Pennsylvania and Frankfort Avenue.

An LMPD officer had to move the car out of the path of an oncoming train.

Police say Kelley’s blood alcohol level was .230 – nearly three times the legal limit. The arrest report indicates she was unsteady on her feet, had bloodshot eyes and told police she had been drinking an hour earlier.

The town of Huntington Beach, California is considering using Facebook to help deter drunk drivers. The police would post the mug shots of offenders on their Facebook homepage.

Dwyer said he became motivated after city residents complained that a local newspaper was going to stop publishing police arrest information. “Those residents and I believed that publishing the information may be a deterrent to future incidents of drunk driving in our city, and we wanted to find a way to continue making the information available to the public,” Dwyer said in his memo.

But not everyone in Huntington Beach appears to be thrilled with Dwyer’s plan. A city police spokesperson told the Associated Press that the department saw “no value” in the proposal and that law enforcement wasn’t about “public shaming.”
